I made this YouTube for another purpose so it probably has more info than you want. Rarely I will reach out to the computer and select a patch by hand but that is more the exception than the norm. But if we flex the Setlist I can either search mainstage by song title or just go to my main patch list which only has about 10 patches, and then just foot pedal my way through that very quickly. If we stick to the Setlist I never need to touch the computer. I build a Setlist in main stage and I cut and paste aliases from my main patch list into the set list and then I advance or decrement through the Setlist via a foot pedal. Even a 10 key would be better than a scrolling knob or hunting through menus. I guess I could get another PX-5S which would work - mine is kind of falling apart. How do you switch patches on this? I don't know how I would get around the lack of bank and program buttons with the new controllers. And it could take the lead again if it was one of the first apps to support MusicXML’s successor, MNX.Īpropos of nothing, my first MIDI interface was from Opcode. I’d go back if it started using MusicXML as its file format. Quick aside- is Unrealbook going to keep getting updates? It lost its primary advantage for me when ForScore added the ability to import indices, but I’ve still got a soft spot in my heart for it. If you happen to be near any shops that have the new Privias, you might want to see how they feel to you- I believe they all share the same action. About the only thing he didn’t do was use a wink emoji… Seems like it’ll be coming along fairly soon, then. In September he mentioned in the Casio Music Forums that the PX-S6000 would be a good platform on which to base a PX-5S successor. Thanks, Micah.Just noticed that Mike Martin dropped a more recent hint about a PX-5 successor. I am hoping the GT22 can be at the center of that. However, I see the potential to incorporate much more functionality with the computer based set up including triggering samples, tone generators, and synth functions. I appreciate any guidance you could provide as I am a severe MIDI novice outside of the basic switching and expression pedal programing I have done with my existing system. Will the cable that works on standard audio interface (SSL 2+) work to control and or power the GT22? I can't quite tell if standard MIDI can plug in and control the GT22. If this will work, will I need to make some changes for power and MIDI inputs? Current power for GT22 coming from the Gizmo cable.Ĥ. Would there be any loss of functionality for GT22 in this set up? Could I still use the Mission expression pedal with footswitch function?ģ. Is it possible for GT22 to effectively pull triple duty (rack rig, MainStage rig, BIAS FX2 standalone for sound building and jamming)? I had thought I would just need to upload a different program based on my use need at the time.Ģ. The intended signal path is as follows: Guitar->tuner->Mission active volume->RMC8 Wah (optional)->SSL 2+ audio interface->MbPro USB in/out->SSL 2+ MIDI->GT22 and SSL 2+ audio interface->PA in stereo.ġ. What I am not clear on is if I can effectively use MIDI to use the GT22 to control MainStage as intended by the program and/or use it to control BIAS FX as a standalone. My preference is to use the GT22 but in the event I don't have that option I am considering the Behringer FD1010. I have settled on MainStage 3 with the BIAS 2 Platinum software bundle (FX, Amp, and Pedal) based on the ability to component level design sound and the obvious aspects of MainStage. I think this is how MainStage functions in its operation so the programing transition/learning curve should be relatively simple. I rarely switch on individual fx pedals unless I am freeform jamming or building new presets. I program based on song/setlist and each song has several presets. As such I am working to replace my outdated smaller home rig (digitech iPad based controller, no longer supported by them or apple) with a MacBook Pro software and MIDI based system. However, it is no longer practical for home practice, idea recording, and smaller one off gigs. This works great for bigger shows and practices with bands where I can stay set up for more than two weeks at a time. A Switch Gizmo is in the FX loop for all the mod and time pedals. I also have the Mission dual function foot controller going through the GT22. The signal chain is Guitar->tuner->Mission active volume->RMC8 Wah->Rack Gizmo for non-FX loop pedals->Mesa. I current use a GT22 with a rack based switching system for analogue pedals and my Mesa V head. I have conducted a search before posting this, but the only relevant responses involved MainStage from 2016.
